We all scream for ice cream!

The third Sunday in July is celebrated as National Ice Cream Day, a made up celebration when restaurants and stores offer some great freebies and special events on ice cream around the country.

The fast food giant is offering free ice cream nationwide on National Ice Cream Day. Throughout the day on July 16, participating McDonald’s restaurants will give away free vanilla soft-serve cones to all customers, no purchase required.  Simply download the McDonalds App and redeem the Free Cone deal.

One lucky person who redeems the free vanilla cone offer will win far more than one free cone: McDonald’s soft serve cones for life! Once you download the app and redeem your frozen treat at a participating McDonald’s between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on July 16, you could win the shiny, one-of-a-kind Golden Arches Cone and free soft serve for life.

The promotion is partly to highlight McDonald’s new ice cream. McDonald’s quietly began changing its vanilla ice cream in the fall of 2016, and the company now says the ice cream contains no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives.
