Friday Fest at the Van Wezel

Friday Fest, Van Wezel’s free concert series featuring local musicians playing on the bayfront venue’s lawn, has announced this year’s lineup.

Blues group Doug Deming and The Jewel Tones, with Deming hailing from Detroit but now based in Florida’s Gulf Coast, kicks off the series on June 16. Rock ‘n’ roll act Kettle of Fish, who have shared the stage with Dickey Betts and other performers, follow on July 21.

Reggae band Jah Movement returns for a second consecutive year Aug. 25, with vocalist Shantel Norman celebrating her birthday during the show. Funk and soul cover band Reverend Barry and Funktastic Soul close out the concert series on Sept. 15.

All concerts take place 5-9 p.m. and are rain or shine, with shows moved inside Van Wezel in the event of inclement weather. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome, but large umbrellas, coolers and outside food and drink are prohibited. Local food and beverage vendors will be present.
